RGB

Nilay İşlek’s wall installations, large and small, are a collection of works that focus on the main foundations of “RGB” and continue to make sense of colors. The artist’s works are about the variability of “RGB” colors captured in various landscapes and climates from different angles.

The situation that the artist wants to reveal especially in these photographs is related to the extent to which the phenomenon of isolation affects a color. With this isolation, he invites us all to a pure and unquestioning discussion of color by abstracting us from a confusion of fiction.

Unlike the routine moments reflected from a photographer’s camera, the scenes you have seen are a small documentation of an artist taking her camera to the streets and looking around.

In this exhibition, Nilay İşlek underlines how colors complement each other and how accessible or inaccessible others are without one color. The photographs you have seen also give you ideas about the relationship between the variability of human states and the harmony of colors with their surroundings.

The artist, who has created his personal gaze with his own unique photographic techniques, has pursued how to record every frame he has seen with the “RGB” template. By paying close attention to the connections of these colors with experience and the meanings they carry on them, he froze these moments in a photo frame and questioned how to bring them into a dialogue with the audience.

The reason why you cannot find a melody, harmony or story between the photographs is that the artist wants to freeze the moment and present the reading of the moment together instead of creating a story.

Each frame we have seen documents the vectors of independent moments through human states in the dynamics of life, without allowing the viewer to establish any connection between the previous photograph and the next.

The only link between the frames is the variable color formations offered to us by the light, which is the pure form of photography. These moments, in other words, these symbols that the artist has given us with colors, when taken as a whole, have made it possible to create a new perspective or color research through these photographs.

In this exhibition, Nilay İşlek leaves one of the most important parts of the work to the audience and invites you to be a part of this dialog.
