
10 Jul Youth and Children’s Theatre Instructor Training for Young Theatre Players
Within the scope of the project titled ‘Artistic Freedom and Children’s and Youth’s Pers pective in the Arts in Turkey –ACT ’ (Artistic Freedom and Children’s and Youth’s Perspective in the Arts in Turkey – ACT), participants who are interested in producing, working and teaching in the field of youth and children’s theatre are sought for a mixed online and face-to-face training programme between September 2022 and May 2024.
The project, known as ACT for short, is designed as an egalitarian, creative and comprehensive training and implementation process for young theatre artists who will work in the field of youth and children’s theatre. The content of the training programme consists of seminars, workshops and consultancy suggestions designed to work with young people from different socio-cultural backgrounds, as well as the production of artistically qualified works. During the process, which will also include field studies, youth theatre plays produced by the participants will be staged in Istanbul and Diyarbakır.
ACT is realised with the support of the Swedish Institute; with the executive partnership of Unga Klara Theatre (Stockholm, Sweden) and Kadir Has University Theatre Department (Istanbul, Turkey); and with the participatory partnership of K2 Contemporary Art Center (Izmir, Turkey) and Mordem Sanat (Diyarbakır, Turkey).
The work within the scope of the project will take place face-to-face in Istanbul, Diyarbakır and Izmir, while online trainings are also being prepared. The content of the training programme is designed with workshops, seminars, discussion, feedback and continuous consultancy practices.
The instructor team of the project consists of artists, experts and academicians from Unga Klara, Malmö University Theatre Academy, Kadir Has University Theatre Department, K2 Contemporary Art Center and Mordem Art.
Participants’ transport and accommodation costs are covered by the project budget.

Application Requirements
Our training programme is open to those who want to work and produce in the field of youth and children’s theatre, to work with young people with differences and support their production processes, and to participate in an egalitarian, creative and comprehensive training in these fields.
Those who have graduated from a theatre department within the last 5 years or who have gained experience in creative drama, drama workshops for young people or children in non-governmental organisations and theatres and who aim to specialise in this field can apply to the call. We kindly ask those who wish to apply for this call, which is open to candidates who live in Diyarbakır, Istanbul or Izmir or who are able to live there during the project, to apply by sending a one-page letter of intent, CV and portfolio, if any, to the following e-mail addresses determined according to the cities.
