08 Jul For Artists: Presenting Oneself and Learning the Market
The project, which took place between 8 July and 2 August 2020 and was led by Begüm Tatari, aimed to provide artists working in Izmir, especially in the field of visual arts, with the methods they may need to express themselves for various applications and collaborations, as well as up-to-date information on the art scene. The online programme consists of 7 seminars given by Evelien Kunst, Aylin Seçkin, Derya Yücel and Luigi Galimberti, and a ten-day workshop on developing a portfolio taught by Işın Önol, Livia Alexander and Ekmel Ertan.
K2 Contemporary Art Center and Galeri A Contemporary Art Center collaborated with Montclair State University, Nesin Art Village, amberPlatform and 4 × 4 Artist Guidance Programme. The 17 male and female participants of the workshop, which is exclusively for artists from Izmir, from various disciplines, different ages and educational backgrounds, were selected by the instructors as a result of an open call. The recordings of the seminars, which are broadcast live on K2’s YouTube channel, are shared permanently on K2 and Galeri A’s YouTube channels in order to reach more viewers. The project development and coordination of the project is carried out by Begüm Tatari, communication and content management by Buse Mutan, graphic design by Gizem Doğu, and English-Turkish translation by Hale Eryılmaz.
