Diapsalmata

Diapsalmata, supported by ArtsMap community’s first Micro-Support Programme on the theme of ‘One with Nature’, is an international contemporary dance performance born from the collaboration of two independent contemporary dancers based in Izmir and Amsterdam. The performance consists of two parts. The first part focuses on how our bodies/homes that we live in every day create a burden on nature. Through the exploration of body and space, the weight of bodies is played with. Two independent dancers search for the answer to the question of whether our ecological burden will decrease if we move our bodies to the countryside in K2 Urla Breathing Zone. The performance sheds light on this day when we try to find our balance again by changing our daily habits in the pandemic we are used to living in. Two independent contemporary dancers are inspired by nature while trying to mobilise their own movement patterns by harmonising with each other.

While the improvised performance takes place in the Church of St Vukolos and extends to the city; it shows us the ways of living in harmony with nature in the city.

Diapsalmata is about two independent contemporary dance artists from the Netherlands and Turkey travelling from Basmane to Urla to witness a moment in which they give up their rituals and hang in nature. We have the chance to watch the two dancers during their journey at St Vukolos Church and K2 Urla Breathing Zone.

For our performance that will take place in K2 Urla Breathing Zone, a transfer will be provided from Urla Ferry Pier at 14:30 on Saturday, 14 May 2022. At 17:45 on Saturday, 14 May 2022, a transfer will be provided for return from Urla Kuşçular K2 Breathing Zone.
