01 Apr A Stronger Civil Society for the Protection of Cultural Heritage

The project ‘A Stronger Civil Society in the Protection of Cultural Heritage’ submitted to the European Union by Our City Izmir Association, with K2 Contemporary Art Association as project partner, was accepted.

The project, which has a total budget of 90 thousand Euros, aims to strengthen the capacity of the association, to create a sustainable platform to raise awareness in the fields of cultural heritage and protection, and to be more effective in decision-making and implementation processes at local and national level on cultural heritage issues.

While the focus of the project is on the protection of our cultural heritage, which plays an important role in understanding the past and building our future, the intervention logic is determined as strengthening civil society through capacity and institutional infrastructure development, and active democratic participation and active citizenship in policy and decision-making processes through sustainable networking, cooperation, strategy and common purpose.

With the project, which started on 1 April 2021 and will be carried out for 15 months, the organisational and institutional capacity of the association will be strengthened, a sustainable platform will be created to increase cooperation and participation capacities in decision-making processes, all actors in the field of heritage will be enabled to work towards a common goal, the institutional capacities of other NGOs working in this field will be increased and active citizenship in the field of cultural heritage will be supported.
