Metropol II reflects the mega-sized city of Istanbul, the result of the CNG painters’ meeting and inspiration with the visiting exhibitors while they were in Venice in 2015 for professional work. In 2012, CNG organized Metropol I in Venice, a similar exhibition with a similar international participation.

This time we chose Istanbul, a place where east and west, Europe and Asia, old and new, ugly and beautiful, planned and unplanned mingle. Istanbul bears the unmistakable traces of a long cosmopolitical history, but it also inspires with its generosity.

CNG is a group of artists who, among other artistic activities, work with Artists’ Books and have been exhibiting together in this media for more than 10 years. Artists’ Books are unique works. This means that the artist has chosen every detail of their work.

Artists’ Book is a genre of different forms of artistic expression, a mixture of painting and sculpture and a variety of techniques. Therefore, all 10 artists interpreted the city in their own free way, but in relation to Artists’ Books.
